30 Under 30

Nominations Open

The Out For Australia 30 Under 30 Awards are a spotlight on the outstanding achievements and positive impact made by young LGBTQIA+ individuals. It's not just about celebrating success; its' about showing the world diverse stories of triumph and resilience. By shining this light, the awards create visible role models who inspire others and break down stereotypes, making our communities more inclusive and understanding.

Winning or being a finalist in these awards isn't just a pat on the back, it's a rocket boosting them towards new opportunities. The recognition propels these young leaders to new heights, giving them the confidence to continue making waves in their fields and advocating for positive change. It's a reminder that authenticity and determination can truly make a difference, and it encourages everyone to embrace who they are and strive for their dreams, no matter the challenges they may face.

We celebrate 30 outstanding individuals under the age of 30, as they live as their authentic selves in the LGBTQIA+ community. Winners are chosen based on their tangible contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community, success in their field, and the qualities they exhibit as an inspirational role model.

30 individuals are awarded, with five of those winners chosen for five major Category Awards.

Special thanks to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for sponsoring our Awards since its inception. We are also grateful to the countless 30 Under 30 Award Winners and Judges who continue to support our mission as volunteers and ambassadors. Of course, these Awards would not be possible without the hard work and creativity of our volunteers, partners, sponsors, and the Out For Australia community.

History of
30 Under 30

2017 & 2018

It started with a simple goal: to honour those who inspired us in the community, who stood out and made a difference. We thought, “Well, why not host an awards night celebrating LGBTQIA+ role models across Australia?” Where our mentees, mentors, and guests could also meet and connect. Our mission has always been to support LGBTQIA+ professionals and students—it made sense to dedicate a night to their achievements!

So in 2017, we held our first LGBTIQ Role Model of the Year Awards. We championed three categories: Established Professional, Young Professional, and Student. It was the start of what would be a special celebration for years to come.

2019

2019 saw a change in our branding (and ambitions). That year, we wanted to spotlight thirty amazing people under the age of 30! We especially wanted to recognise the next generation of LGBTQIA+ role models—those who made tangible contributions to our rainbow community; showed success in their career; and inspired us to live with authenticity, courage and resilience.

Like in previous years, guests and award winners alike enjoyed a fabulous night celebrating their achievements. It was a time where we could come together in the one room and feel connected.

These winners were recognised at a ceremony hosted by BCG on Wednesday 25 September 2019, where three category winners were announced. We were thrilled to welcome Jordan Raskopoulos as MC and Dr Kerryn Phelps AM as keynote speaker. Out For Australia congratulates all who were nominated and are proud to celebrate the next generation of LGBT+ leaders.

However, the next two years showed us exactly what was possible in the face of adversity.
