CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (Fractional)
Out for Australia (OFA) is a national charity empowering LGBTQIA+ people to thrive at work during the formative stages of their careers. Through our mentoring program, Career Academy and community events, we support young LGBTQIA+ professionals to show up as their authentic selves and build meaningful, sustainable careers.
We’re now seeking a Fractional Chief Executive Officer on a part time basis, to lead OFA into its next chapter — strengthening our impact, sustainability, and national presence.
About the role
As CEO, you are accountable for advancing OFA’s purpose through strategic leadership, fundraising, partnerships, and strong operational delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role, well suited to someone who thrives in a small, volunteer-led organisation and enjoys turning strategy into action.
Working closely with the Board, you will operate with delegated authority to manage day-to-day operations, ensure sound governance and financial sustainability, and lead a national volunteer community to deliver meaningful outcomes for the LGBTQIA+ community. You’ll be responsible for:
Partnering with the Board to set and deliver OFA’s strategy, priorities, and impact
Leading fundraising and financial sustainability across grants, donations, partnerships, and events
Building and stewarding corporate partnerships, sponsors, donors, and philanthropic relationships
Providing clear reporting to the Board on performance, finances, and impact
Leading and motivating a diverse, remote volunteer community
Ensuring effective governance, compliance, and organisational sustainability
Representing OFA with credibility across corporate, community, and sector settings
About You
You are a values-led leader with experience operating at a senior level in a not-for-profit, community, or purpose-driven organisation. You bring a strong balance of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, and you are comfortable working in resource-constrained, volunteer-led environments. You will also bring:
Demonstrated experience partnering with a Board and translating strategy into delivery
Proven success in fundraising, financial oversight, and building sustainable income streams
Experience cultivating corporate partnerships, sponsors, donors, or funding bodies
Strong capability to lead, motivate, and engage volunteers
Sound governance, risk, and compliance awareness
Deep alignment with OFA’s purpose and values, with lived experience and/or strong cultural competence working with LGBTQIA+ communities
What you will get out of your role
The opportunity to lead a national not-for-profit organisation delivering tangible, long-term impact for LGBTQIA+ people in the early stages of their careers
A meaningful leadership role with scope to shape organisational strategy, sustainability, and national influence
Close partnership with an engaged Board and the autonomy to craft the role in line with your strengths, experience, and professional goals
The chance to build and steward high-value relationships across corporate, community, and philanthropic sectors
A platform to strengthen your executive leadership, governance, and fundraising capability within a purpose-driven organisation
The professional fulfilment of contributing your expertise to a cause aligned with your values, alongside a passionate and welcoming volunteer community
Flexible, remote, part-time leadership that supports balance while delivering meaningful impact
